The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue Mini review

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V. E. Schwab

2020

Historical fantasy fiction

What is there left to be said about The Invisible Life of Addie Larue that hasn’t already been said?

The novel follows Addie Larue after she makes a deal with an old god to avoid an unfavorable marriage in early eighteenth century France. In exchange for immortality, Addie loses her ability to be remembered. Meaning she has been forgotten by everyone she has ever met. But what happens when she meets somebody who remembers her close to three hundred years later?

Addie’s story is unique and I really loved the storyline divided between the past and present day. She felt like a believable and relatable character throughout the entire story, even though her story is quite incredible.

The only thing I can further add to the Addle LaRue conversation is the recommendation to savor this book. With schoolwork and classes, it took me over a month to finish The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which I think is the best way to read the novel. Schwab’s prose is beautiful and reading Addie’s story over a long period makes you feel like you’re living her life right alongside her.

Rating 5/5: Though I don’t think I felt the same intense love for The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue like others here on Bookstagram, I’d still recommend checking out the book!
